11/22/2023 0 Comments Amarra vs audirvana vs pure musicLuckily mine are all still functioning so I still have that option at least for a while. There is no other remote app that offers the functionality and ease of use of this one, but it only works with Squeezebox which Logitech has discontinued. For me, the easiest and best user interface is iPeng controlling Logitech Media Server for my Squeezeboxes. Amarra recommended I try Splashtop to use as a remote app with that player, so I am trying that out as well. I do like the JRiver Remote app better than using the iTunes remote app which you have to use to control Pure Music or BitPerfect from your iPad or iPhone device. ![]() I only just purchased Amarra so can't yet tell if I will find the GUI easy or crazy. Even as a former software engineer, I felt surprised at the difference in sound between Amarra, Pure Music, and Audirvana Plus. Constantly got emails offering premium upgrades. I was getting dropouts with BitPerfect and discovered it was my DAC. I couldn’t figure out how to connect it to my music collection and they seemed more interested in getting me to upgrade to the premium version than getting me connected to my music. By cobntrast I find Pure Music and BitPerfect really easy to use. While the talk in the music streaming segment is all about Roon these days, Audirvana is trying to grab its share of the pie with its latest iteration, Audirvana Studio offers integration with Tidal, Qobuz and High Res Audio and more to. For instance, I have difficulty with the logic and features of JRiver even though it's a lot of people's favorite player. Audirvana has recently launched Audirvana Studio to replace its Version 3.5. Some I find much easier to operate than others. However, the user interfaces are vastly different. I'm rather new to the whole audiophile thing, I started listening to FLACs exclusively a few months ago, got myself a couple of expensive cans and an Amp/DAC I was just wondering was the benefit of using those kind of softwares, I tried Amarra's free trial and I couldn't perceive any difference currently I'm using Tidal Hi-Fi running on Chrome and VOX for Mac for my own FLACs. I looked on the internet but found very few comparisons for the recent versions of software for a Mac Mini Mu. I would appreciate members opinion regarding the best current music playback software for the Mac Mini server. ![]() ![]() I am hard pressed to "hear" differences between playback on these various players. i had been using the Pure Music Version 2.0. I have been trying BitPerfect, JRiver Media Center 19 for Mac, Pure Music 2.0, and most recently got Amarra 3.0.
